We are a small but diverse team of highly principled people that share a common belief in science, technology, and sustainability. We have provided solutions to complex problems and helped our clients deliver effective and sustainable solutions to energy, process, and emissions challenges.

A Few Case Studies

Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency Opportunities Assessment. Client: Yarra Pilbara Ammonia Plant

Yara Pilbara Fertilisers Pty Ltd has operational control of the world’s largest single stream Ammonia production plant of 2,200 TPD on the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia. YPFL was required to assess the Pilbara Ammonia plant operations under the Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) program. YPFL contracted Climate Change Response Pty Ltd (CCR) as an external consultant to assist with conducting the energy efficiency assessment of their Pilbara Ammonia plant operations in order to meet their reporting requirements for the Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) Act.

Environment Accounting

Environmental Accounting System Setup and Reporting: Horizon Power

CCR team members assisted Horizon Power, Western Australia’s regional electricity provider, to set up and document an efficient environmental accounting system for collecting, collating and reporting environmental and energy data. CCR assists Horizon Power in an ongoing manner to comply with its annual reporting requirements under a number of mandatory Government programs including the national pollutants inventory (NPI), the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting scheme (NGERs) and environmental licencing. This includes data collection and collation, review and quality assurance, report generation and submission and documentation to meet subsequent auditing or verification requirements.

Eco Efficiency

Ashburton North Strategic Industrial Area (ANSIA) - Industrial Ecology component of Stage 1B Statutory Planning Services, Client: LandCorp

In October 2009 the State Government endorsed the commencement of investigations to create a Strategic Industrial Area (SIA) at Ashburton North to cater for proposed Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) and domestic gas processing, as well as promoting related downstream opportunities. The Industrial Ecology element of the larger Stage B statutory planning process examined the potential for gas processing and other related industries to operate as closed loop systems. This study undertaken by CCR was a precursor to traditional land use planning and examined in detail physical and operational orientation of industries, linked input and output supply chains and thereby optimised opportunities for industries to work together. The resultant strategy informed the Development Plan. Based on the industrial ecology strategy a concept plan was prepared which was a diagrammatic representation explaining design philosophies and provided indicative footprints for major development components. The concept plan interpreted key industrial ecology outcomes.

Climate Change Response

Climate Change Response Plan Peer Review. Client: City of Rockingham

Historic trends and modelling into the future indicate that the Coast of Western Australia and the City of Rockingham is susceptible to various impacts and risks as a result of anticipated changes in climate. A Climate Change Response Team was established at the City of Rockingham in order to identify the risks that would impact on the City and to develop a Climate Change Response Plan for the City. CCR was commissioned to provide peer review of the strategy.

Other Technical Consultancy

Independent Technical Review of Ground Source Heat Pump System. Client: City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder received in-principal funding through the WA State Government Department of Environment and Conservation’s Low Emissions Energy Development (LEED) fund to implement a hybrid renewable energy system for pool heating at the Goldfields Oasis Recreation centre. The proposed hybrid renewable energy system consisted of a ground source heat pump (GSHP) system paired with solar photovoltaic panels. CCR was commissioned by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to provide an independent technical review of the proposed system.
